Digital hygiene

Small habits that stop big scams.

Use this checklist before you pay, share, install, scan, or believe an urgent online message.

01

Verify calls

Call back only through official numbers. Do not trust numbers sent inside a suspicious chat.

02

Protect OTPs

No genuine bank, police officer, or support agent needs your OTP, PIN, or password.

03

Pause payments

A scammer creates urgency. Slow down and speak to someone you trust before paying.

04

Install safely

Download finance and banking apps only from official app stores and verified publishers.

05

Save evidence

Keep screenshots, transaction IDs, phone numbers, links, and app names.

06

Report quickly

If money moved, call 1930 first and then report at cybercrime.gov.in.
